I was born and raised in Manitoba, but always knew that I needed to live by the ocean. Within weeks of graduating from high school, I headed to Australia for a year, and then moved directly to Victoria, BC. I studied biochemistry at the University of Victoria and received a Bachelor of Science in 1997.
Dental school soon followed and in 2002 I graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from UBC. Although my intention was always to return to Victoria, I got sidetracked and moved to Ontario to be closer to family. After several years in private practice in Ontario, I spent a year working for a Health Canada program serving remote First Nations communities in Northwestern Ontario.
Now back in BC, I am once again enjoying private practice. I continue to work with First Nations communities, now in Northern BC. Since I was young, I have loved to travel and have been to many far off places. My most extensive travelling has been throughout Central America, including Honduras, Guatemala, Belize, Costa Rica and Southern Mexico.
I am a member of the College of Dental Surgeons, the B.C. Dental Association and the Canadian Dental Association. I enjoy practicing all aspects of family dentistry and welcome patients of all ages. I take pride in keeping my dental skills and knowledge current by attending continuing education courses, study clubs and conventions.
There is not enough hours in the day for all of my hobbies. I love to be outside and can be seen walking everywhere with my favourite four legged friend, my German Shepherd, Chica. I enjoy all things artistic, including working with clay, making jewelry and my latest creative pursuit, knitting. My favourite artist is, of course, my husband Dermel.
Above all else, I love spending time with my family, the most recent addition being my proudest accomplishment yet, a beautiful baby boy.
